Knowing When to Fold: Closing Up Shop on RedBubble

Hi Lovelies!

I have been brewing with some life-changing decisions this year and I've come to the point where some things have to be released to welcome the new. I can certainly see this occurring physically, relationship-wise, mentally, and even when it comes to this career of mine. As my goals and vision are being reshaped to be in alignment with my values and priorities, I have to stop hanging on to things that have not been serving my highest. So, today I have to inform you that I am ending my time at Red Bubble. Since 2008, I have promoted and sold artwork there but it's not fitting with where I am today. I must also forewarn you that other changes are coming but have yet to be finalized. And that's okay. Sometimes you have to fold and walk away from the table. I can only know that as the vision becomes clearer, better things will be in store for all of us.  Don't you agree? So until next time, have a beautifully designed day.

Best,

Update to my bubblesite

Coming to the Stage
Medium: Fractal
I have been using Red Bubble for a few years now to sell my art online. While I have made sales in the past, I really wasn't bringing in the sales that I initially thought I would. I know that lack of promotion and marketing was an issue, but I also think it was due to the inconsistency in pricing of my works. To remedy both issues, I am going back to the drawing board to revamp my Bubblesite.  It is time indeed.
First, I want to build a marketing plan to reach more than viewers of my blog. I want this to be global. So of course I will be using social media to get the word out. This entails me creating a fan page on Facebook and tweeting on the regular on Twitter. Any other ideas for marketing, besides guest blogging (I really freeze when it comes to writing.).

Additionally, I would like to reformat the pieces being sold on there. When I began using Red Bubble, I just knew what the minimum image size requirements were for upload. I thought that if they stayed within a range, I could still get an 8x10 or 12x12. This is not the case. Consequently, when I added a specific markup to all of the items, the prices ranged tremendously but I didn't understand why.  I didn't realize that the print options would vary from one to the next because the pixels of the uploaded image varied. So while I could get a "small" print for one piece, the same "small" print of another piece doesn't necessarily mean it is the same size. Sucky right? That is why reformatting is necessary. I have already begun the process of taking down some pieces, but I am really pondering taking down everything and starting anew.

Anyways. During the meantime, I will keep you posted on what's happening with the Bubblesite and let you know when it is back up and running for business. Changes are a coming and I can't wait for the results. Enjoy your day!

Replacing the Tire and Making Way for the New

As a new year typically brings about resolutions to lose weight and be healthy, I have made the focus of my resolution on the total revamping of myself and my career. For the past year and a half I have been slowly grasping the life of an artist, designer, entrepreneur, or whatever I wanted to be at the moment. At the end of this period, I have not made a drastic change from where I've started. Yeah, I can say I have I made a few sales here and there from my art on RedBubble and a shirts on Cotton Smoothie (Spreadshirt) or been in one show, but that's not going to cut it if I really want to thrive. Therefore, a change needs to be made. Though I have done plenty of research about starting a business and such many times before, I think the start of 2011 brought me the real insight I needed to get over the hump in my life. More realistically, it wasn't the hump that I needed to be concerned about but the old tire of a cycle that has been worn down for some years. I need a replacement instead of a spare or donut.

Getting to this realization wasn't easy one bit. There were a number of you all out there that have helped me ask the critical questions for evaluating my life, understanding my resistance to growth and the necessity to follow spirit, and fulfilling my dream as a business owner. Whether it was from Write Your Life Right sessions, the e-course from Scoutie Girl, reading the early years posts from Kelly Rae Roberts, or venturing into the lives of all you great artists and craftpreneurs that help make this world a beautiful place; I am now in a space that is ready for a new life. I know what habits must be relinquished and I know what skills need to be developed. I also understand the power that fear played in the past and the power that faith has for my future. All in all, I know that this makeover will not happen overnight, but as long as I take action daily, my dreams will be realized and I will be at my full potential.

For you all, have you experienced any breakthroughs? Have you started witnessing changes in your life?

New Stuff

Today is a good day. I got new items on RedBubble and I visited some wonderful websites. The piece shown is Wings of Paradise. Items are available for purchase. While I was on RedBubble, I stumbeld across the art of artist and designer, Yvonne Less. Her work is so stunning and captivating. On her profile, I saw that she had a website (http://www.diversepixel.com/). You must see all these amazing creations.

Also, I'm so thankful for visiting Yvonne's site because I found out about another great opportunity for artists. I've been trying to figure out how to get my patterns onto fabric, and while I was on Diverse Pixel, I found my answer. There is a company called Spoonflower, located right here in NC, that allows designers to upload and print fabric. I am so ecstatic about this news. There are many designs I have so far, and I'd love to see them on fabric. Today has truly been fruitful in feeding my creative soul.
